Music For Trees is excited to present the last of our Saturday Sessions at CarriageWorks for 2011. As part of the Spring Series, we’ll be programming the foyer stage and tipping the year’s Tree Tally over 100,000 trees! Come and celebrate with us and enjoy a laid back afternoon of live music.

Inspired by musical visionaries such as Sufjan Stevens and Joanna Newsom, Packwood also draws creatively from a longing to describe his universe. “On long drives to Sydney from the sticks, my Dad would fill my head with incredible stories of the vastness of space, the diversity of prehistoric life - things that seem almost magical in their distance from the world that I live in now. Despite being sometimes overwhelming, I still like to dream about things like that whenever I can.”

Hazzy Bee is an independent Sydney based folk singer and street artist. He wears his heart on his sleeve, and on his pant leg, his shoe lace and in his hair. His vocal style (reminiscent of Conor Oberst’s softer moments), his lilting guitar strums and his surprisingly biting rhyming couplets go together like a teabag and a mug. His refreshing frankness is angled perfectly towards a sweetly cynical folk persona.

Cody Dillon is perhaps the nicest guy in music, anywhere. You can't help but become enchanted by the grace that he so naturally brings to the stage. However, scratch just below the seemingly surf/folk-tanned epidermis of any of his compositions and you'll see that he is privy to the dark, the wild, and the unexpected. His debut 'Blood Moon' is about to be released with a concoction of alt-country, colonial balladry and blues, weaving tales of love, murder and resistance in the chaotic order one should expect from life.

With his band, The Anon Anons, Rob has traversed such varied musical landscapes to recently be described as having a sound residing somewhere in the back rooms of an LA dive bar playing poker and discussing F. Scott Fitzgerald with the illegitimate children of Burt Bacharach, Black Sabbath, Leonard Cohen and the entire 1995 cast of Baywatch. Not surprisingly, he is just as interested as you to find out what this actually means.

Drawing from Swedish fiction, unspoken experience, photographers, and vintage silhouettes; her debut EP, Drawing Midnight, has just been launched. Only just finishing work with the Sydney Children’s Festival Choir, Chelsea’s brand of indie-folk melodies drift over like a cool breeze on a sultry night.
